Welcome to the second installment of our series on Owens Corning asphalt shingles.
In this series, we’re taking a look at all of Owens Corning’s asphalt shingle products to help you understand the benefits of each type of shingle, which in turn can help you decide which option is best for your home.
In Part 1, we covered the Duration series, and in this installment of our series, we’re diving into Oakridge shingles.
Before we begin, here’s a quick overview of all the asphalt shingle product lines Owens Corning offers:
- Architectural Style: Duration Shingles & Oakridge Shingles
- Slate Style: Berkshire Shingles
- Wood-shake Style: Woodcrest Shingles
- Three-Tab Style: Supreme Shingles
Let’s get started by taking a look at some of the benefits of these asphalt shingles …
BEAUTY & HIGH PERFORMANCE
The Oakridge line combines an amazing aesthetic with premium protection. With a full double layer in the nailing zone, these shingles deliver better integrity, as well as holding power, as compared to single-layer nail zones. A variety of popular colors are a nice perk, adding curb appeal.
ALGAE RESISTANCE PROTECTION — GUARANTEED FOR 25 YEARS*
No homeowner wants algae growth on their roof. It can make a home look dingy. It can also retain moisture, which can cause damage to shingles and the underlying roofing structure.
That said, Owens Corning adds copper-lined granules into their Oakridge shingles, and that helps resist algae growth. Their StreakGuard® Algae Resistance Protection inhibits growth of blue-green algae, and offers protection against the manifestation of black streaks on your roof.
*We are happy to provide the full warranty upon request for complete details, limitations and requirements.
STANDARD PROTECTION LIMITED WARRANTY
Owens Corning® Oakridge shingles include an excellent standard product limited warranty, which provides coverage against manufacturing defects. The warranty starts with a “TRU PROtection® Period, during the first 10 years, where coverage includes labor cost to repair/replace defective materials.” Also includes blow-off coverage for the first 15 years, and algae resistance for the first 25 years.
WIND RESISTANCE
Here in Wisconsin, it can get pretty windy, so a wind-resistant roofing system can provide great peace of mind, and long term savings. As you can imagine, high-speed winds can blow shingles off a roof deck. If this occurs, missing shingles can lead to leaks, as well as additional damage to the interior of a roof and home.
Owens Corning certifies that their Oakridge asphalt shingles meet industry recognized wind resistance standards, and can withstand winds of up to 110/130 MPH (177/209 KMH). This certification is accomplished through independent third-party testing laboratories.
